Testing

  • Safety
Safe, playable athletic fields are in everyone's best interest. Our children use these spaces, and we want them to enjoy the health benefits that playing outdoors brings while protecting them and their environment from toxics.
  • Liability
The regulatory landscape is changing rapidly, and both state and federal governments are beginning to regulate PFAS in soil and water at very low levels. Liability for cleaning up PFAS, micro plastics, or other contamination from artificial turf will fall squarely on the shoulders of those who installed it.
  • Transparency
Full disclosure about field materials, manufacturing processes, and potential for exposure is necessary when making choices that effect communities long-term.
  • Informed Decision-Making
Caveat-emptor - let the buyer beware. Never get your science from someone who is trying to sell you something. Communities must have access to independent data to make the best decisions about field construction.

  • Environmental Contamination
The synthetic turf industry conducts their own testing that is, more often than not, shown to be inadequate.
